If you’re looking to refresh your appearance and regain a youthful glow, BOTOX® may be a great option for you. Botox targets those stubborn wrinkles and fine lines, smoothing your skin and giving you a more rejuvenated, confident look. Whether it’s minimizing frown lines, crow’s feet, or forehead wrinkles, BOTOX® can help you look and feel your best, restoring your natural beauty with minimal downtime. It’s a quick, safe, and proven treatment that enhances your features while helping you embrace a more vibrant version of yourself.
Botulinum toxin works below the skin’s surface to block nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. By limiting muscle movement, BOTOX® helps reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles created by repetitive facial expressions.
BOTOX® is FDA-approved for treating crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.
Additional cosmetic uses including:
Platysmal bands on the neck
Bunny lines across the nose
Brow lift
Lipstick lines
Lip flip
“Orange peel” chin
There are more opportunities to use BOTOX® to help with other conditions, like migraines.
Non-treatable areas
While BOTOX® is excellent for smoothing out surface wrinkles and preventing new ones, it’s not designed for deeper wrinkles, like marionette lines (also known as “smile lines”). For these, dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are the ideal choice. This is service provided by our excellent team at Bellevue Skin and Wellness.
Unlike dermal fillers, BOTOX® does not restore volume. It won’t help fill in lost volume or reduce dark circles under the eyes. In fact, using BOTOX® in this area can carry risks, such as sagging lower eyelids or difficulties with blinking.
BOTOX® is a versatile treatment suitable for most individuals who wish to reduce the appearance of wrinkles or frown lines. It is effective for people with various skin types and conditions.
However, it is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or for individuals with existing neurological conditions.
BOTOX® is FDA-approved for anyone 18 years of age or older, but we typically don’t find it necessary to use it for facial rejuvenation purposes until your late 20s to early 30s.
While many people wait until they notice visible wrinkles to start BOTOX® treatments, the best approach is to begin early to prevent new wrinkles from forming. Waiting too long to start treatments may mean you’ll need extra help from dermal fillers or laser skin resurfacing to smooth out deeper fine lines. These are also services provided at the Bellevue Skin and Wellness clinic.
During the injections you may feel a slight pinching sensation.
We suggest that patients come in for regular neuromodulator maintenance treatments every three to four months to keep wrinkles smooth, as the effects are temporary.
While these treatments are necessary to maintain optimal results, many people find that they need them less frequently over time as their muscles adjust to staying in a more relaxed state.
Is there any downtime after a BOTOX® treatment?
No, there is no required downtime. You can resume your normal activities right away. However, it’s important to avoid the following immediately after treatment:
Strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours
Rubbing the treated areas while they heal
Will I look “frozen” after BOTOX® treatment?
No, BOTOX® will not freeze your face. Your natural expressions, like smiling, laughing, and frowning, will still move as usual. The difference is that the wrinkles associated with these expressions will be significantly less noticeable. The “frozen” look typically occurs when too much BOTOX® is injected, but with an experienced injector like the team at RejuvenationMD, this can be easily avoided.
BOTOX® is a safe and effective procedure, backed by extensive research supporting its reliability. However, like any treatment, it may cause mild side effects, including:
Light bruising or swelling at the injection site
Discomfort at the injection site
Dry mouth
Dry eyes and/or blurred vision
Headache
Most BOTOX® patients do not experience these temporary, minor side effects. It’s important to ensure you are working with a trained professional, as receiving BOTOX® from an unqualified provider can increase the risk of complications.
Rare side effects of botulinum toxin A include:
Difficulty swallowing, breathing, or speaking
Allergic reactions such as hives, swelling of the face or throat, or dizziness
Unintended spread of the toxin, leading to issues like drooping eyelids, uneven eyebrows, or a crooked smile
To increase comfort during the injections a topical numbing cream can be applied to the skin to ease discomfort.
To reduce your risk of experiencing any of the common and rare side effects associated with BOTOX®, please prepare for your injection treatment by:
